Landscaping in North York means serving two different cities on the same street: a 1960s side-split on its original lawn next to a brand-new build sitting on raw builder grade. One needs renewal, a driveway re-laid, beds restored, mature trees respected. The other needs everything, in the right order, starting with grading. We run design-build crews for exactly that range.
Newtonbrook and Willowdale’s rebuilt streets are our steadiest North York work. Builder “landscaping” is a skim of topsoil over compacted fill, and it shows by the first summer. We take new properties from grade plan to finished: drainage and grading first, then interlock driveway, then sod, beds, and fencing on one schedule, with one crew accountable for all of it. Landscape design earns its fee most on these blank-slate lots.
York Mills, Bayview Village, Don Mills’ ravine edges, the prettiest lots in North York are also the most regulated. Ravine by-law setbacks decide where a wall or patio can go, and slopes demand engineered retaining walls with real drainage. We build terraced walls-plus-planting packages under those rules without drama.
Don Mills’ famous mid-century streets mostly need respectful renewal: original concrete drives replaced in interlock, foundation plantings from 1971 finally retired, and irrigation under lawns shaded by 60-year trees. Quiet, satisfying work, and the before-and-afters are spectacular.
Willowdale, Newtonbrook, Bayview Village, York Mills, Don Mills, Downsview, and across North York.
Constantly. Willowdale and Newtonbrook are full of rebuilt homes sitting on builder-grade dirt. New builds need everything at once (grading, driveway, sod, beds, fencing), which is exactly when a design-build crew saves you from three contractors doing four jobs in the wrong order.
Yes. York Mills, Bayview Village, and the Don corridor streets fall under ravine protection rules that govern what can be built and planted near the slope. We design within them and handle the approvals, it is paperwork we already know.
Large-format interlock driveways with lighting on the rebuilt streets, and terraced retaining walls with planting on the ravine and slope lots. The two halves of North York want very different work, and we do both.
